Tiger sketches

So I was browsing Youtube, when I came across several amazing videos of tiger's jumping and chasing stuff that their trainers were dangling in front of them. As I watched these amazing animals, I would often pause at certain poses and try to capture the gestures of these beautiful creatures. Here are some drawings I did on the ol' Cintique.

I've got an art show coming up late this September, and one of the pieces I plan on exhibiting is a short rotoscope similar to the film "Waking Life". I've been drawing over photos lately to try and get the right look and feel for the rotoscope. Here's one of the first among many tests I've done. More to come.

Loner

Drawing that I did of a super hero I conceived when I was in high school and have held onto the idea ever since. I'm normally drawn to darker super heroes like Batman, because they are more intimidating and we take them more serious than boy scouts like Superman or Captain America. Plus invisibility has always been the super power I've wanted.

A few weeks ago, my fellow animation colleague, Ty Carter, got Bill Perkins, the art director of Disney's Alladin, to come to Provo and put some of us through an intense three day workshop of painting. For three days straight, from dawn to dusk, we studied color, value, and light. Each painting was only 15 minutes to an hour. Here are some of those paintings. I am so grateful to Ty Carter for his friendship, and for his willingness to bring great opportunities like this to BYU. I also want to thank Bill Perkins for his willingness to come, and hopefully take one of his workshops again.
